Tally Pro Privacy Policy

App: Tally Pro
Developer: Peter Holdmann
Platforms: macOS, iOS, Android
Last updated: June 17, 2026

Overview

Tally Pro is a utility app that connects to compatible video switchers on your local network to display real-time tally information. This policy explains what data the app does and does not collect.

The short version: Tally Pro does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All communication happens exclusively between your device and your switcher on your local network.

Data We Do Not Collect

Tally Pro does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:

  • Personal information of any kind
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers
  • Usage analytics or crash reports
  • Network information beyond what is necessary to connect to your switcher
  • Any data from your switcher (tally state, input names, etc.)

There are no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking libraries in the app.

Local Network Access

Tally Pro requires access to your local network to communicate with your switcher. This access is used solely to send and receive tally protocol packets between the app and your switcher.

  • All communication occurs entirely within your local network
  • No data leaves your local network
  • The app does not connect to any external servers, APIs, or cloud services
  • The IP address you enter, and any switcher found via auto-discovery, is stored locally on your device only, to pre-fill the connection screen on future launches

Data Stored on Your Device

The only data stored by the app is the IP address of your switcher and your display preferences (such as whether internal sources are shown), saved locally using your device’s standard preferences storage (UserDefaults on iOS/macOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app.

Platform-Specific Permissions

iOS and macOS

The app requests Local Network permission on first launch. This permission is required by Apple for any app that communicates with devices on your local network. It is used exclusively to connect to your switcher and to discover compatible switchers via Bonjour/mDNS. The app does not access any other devices or services on your network.

Android

The app declares the following permissions in order to function:

  • INTERNET — required for network communication with your switcher
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — used to detect network availability
  • CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE — used for automatic switcher discovery (mDNS) on your local network
  • WAKE_LOCK — keeps the screen on while the app is in use as a tally display

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data about you or your device.

Third-Party Services

Tally Pro does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. The app communicates only with the video switcher hardware you connect it to on your own local network.

Children’s Privacy

Tally Pro is a professional utility app not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Given that the app collects no data, material changes to this policy are unlikely.
